12 RULES TO LIVE BY

  1. Heighten your level of awareness and focus it on what you are feeling and thinking, as well as on the circumstances around you. Human beings are the only animals capable of focusing awareness on their internal selves and their external environment.
  2. Harbor no bitterness towards anyone. Walk around with a basket full of forgiveness and throw a handful of it right in the face of anyone who offends you.
  3. Life is just too short to spend any portion of it nursing animosities and registering wrongs. Nurturing resentment is like feeding a snake that will turn around and bite you.
  4. Love unselfishly. Love is a verb. Perform outrageous acts of love – at least once every day.
  5. Give your life away in service to others. Let “How may I serve” be the guiding principle of your daily life. Service fuels success.
  6. Cultivate and practice humility, generosity, empathy, patience and love.
  7. Set your financial house in order. Get out of debt. Revisit what you spend money on that offers little reward and can be easily dropped. Invest that money wisely for your future.
  8. Live with integrity. Live your life as if everything you do will be broadcast on TV. Develop an unshakeable character. Consider yourself an organ of your highest and noblest thoughts.
  9. Make a list of the people, things and activities that are most important to you. See if the way you spend your time reflects what is most important to you and how you want to live.
  10. Write down 3 to 5 goals that you want to achieve. Choose the most important one and ask yourself if you are clear about the outcome you want and do one thing today to move you towards that outcome.
  11. Don’t leave the emotional content of your mind to circumstance. Live by design as far as emotions are concerned. Chose these 5 positive emotions and experience them all day long, there are: Joy, Expectation (positive expectation or hope), Relaxation (a sense of inner harmony and calm), Confidence (self-confidence) and Kindness (loving kindness).
  12. Remember Happiness is the prize. Live with the happiness of yourself and others in mind. HAPPINESS is the antidote to STRESS. Giving of your material possessions and your money as well as giving yourself to others will create happiness.
  13. Remember that we are spiritual beings. Do something every day to nurture your soul.
